Five Reasons to be a ‘Snowflake’

Opinions expressed in this post are solely my own and do not represent the views or opinions of my employer.

I have recently completed my first year at Snowflake on the Sales Engineering team and what an amazing year that was!

Snowflake is truly one of the most innovative companies with a great product vision and amazing leadership. As a Snowflake employee, I feel more motivated every single day to work with our customers and partners and the amazing community of people who are passionate about Data and AI technologies.

If you are looking for a new opportunity and grow in your career, I highly recommend visiting https://careers.snowflake.com and taking a look at the open positions. A new team member who recently joined my team at Snowflake said it well after two weeks of being a Snowflake employee: “I wish I had joined Snowflake before.”

There is a plethora of reasons why I would recommend pursuing a position at Snowflake, but here are my top five:

1. Working with an awesome product and learning everything about it.

Snowflake Data Cloud is a best-of-breed data platform with a unified security and governance that is built for all personas including data engineers, architects, data scientists and data analysts, really for anyone who work with data in an enterprise.

As a Snowflake employee, you get to learn about the brilliant engineering behind the Snowflake Data Cloud and what’s coming next. Many other data platform vendors try to replicate Snowflake’s product vision, which is truly flattering.

2. Working with the latest and greatest technologies and collaborating with the amazing partner ecosystem.

Snowflake Data Cloud runs in all three clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and it is connected with all other innovative products in the ecosystem. As a Snowflake employee, you get to work with all three hyperscalers as well as the coolest tools and technologies that complement the Snowflake Data Cloud.

Both the ISV and SI Partners play a huge part in the Snowflake Data Cloud ecosystem and as a Snowflake employee, it is a pleasure working with our excellent partners to hear about the other technology trends.

3. A broadened perspective on the industry verticals and market trends

Snowflake Data Cloud focuses on specialized solutions for different industry verticals including Financial Services, Retail & CPG, Healthcare and Life Sciences and many others. Even if you are technologist, you get to work with experts who specialize in a particular industry to identify the common business problems and create solutions in the Snowflake Data Cloud. Horizontal solutions like Snowflake Data Cleanrooms get further enhanced with the different requirements of each industry use case.

Check out the resources on case studies around the industry solutions in the Snowflake Data Cloud.

4. A unique culture that promotes collaboration amongst smart and friendly co-workers with different backgrounds

This is definitely a big one. Everyone from top-down is smart, hard-working, nice and approachable in the organization. Snowflake teams collaborate globally 24/7 to serve better for the Snowflake customers all over the world, make the product better and build solutions in the Snowflake Data Cloud. Our company meetings are always full of enthusiasm and passion. Whether you are a specialist or a generalist (like me), you will find amazing opportunities to grow in your career.

Learning and innovation never ends at Snowflake. There is tremendous amount of expertise, talent and support that makes Snowflake a great collaborative environment around a culture built with Snowflake’s core values.

5. An optimal work-life balance for everyone

Last but not least, Snowflake provides the optimal work-life balance. Snowflake employees work hard, but they get time off when they need it. There is unlimited vacation and also a surprise Snowday every quarter.
